The Los Angeles Rams have reached an agreement on a four-year contract extension with cornerback Trent McDuffie, just days after acquiring him in a trade from the Kansas City Chiefs, league sources confirmed Sunday.
The deal is worth $124 million with $100 million guaranteed, making McDuffie the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history with an average annual value of about $31 million.
McDuffie was traded to the Rams in exchange for four draft picks, including a first-round selection. He will join Los Angeles’ defense as a key player as the team looks to return to the Super Bowl after reaching the NFC Championship Game last season.
In his first social media post since the trade, McDuffie wrote “God is Good,” signaling excitement about his new team.
McDuffie was drafted 21st overall by the Chiefs in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Washington. He played four seasons in Kansas City and was a contributor to two Super Bowl-winning teams. He earned All-Pro honors in 2023.
During his time with the Chiefs, McDuffie played in 56 games, recording 238 tackles, including 170 solo stops, 5.5 sacks, 34 passes defensed, and three interceptions.
The Rams have said strengthening their secondary was a priority, and McDuffie’s addition addresses that need. Front office officials see him as a long-term cornerstone for the defense.
The deal sets a new benchmark for cornerback contracts, and McDuffie is expected to play a major role in the Rams’ defense in 2026.
